GRAIN' ANT) PRODUCE. There has been a fair demand for wheat and sales have been made at from 4s to 4s and oven higher has boon paid for a. line of .specially fine quality. The oat market continues to slacken, and long oats are difficult to quit, even at the market prices quoted below. There is no change in barley, farmers still refusing to accept the prices'offered. The Millers’ Association has lowered the price of bran to £5. Cocksfoot from the Bays is coming forward, and sales have been made at from 3|d to 4d. As much as 4£d was paid for one- line, an early lot of particularly good quality, bought for immediate shipment. The following arc local quotations:

Italian ryegrass, farmers’ lines, Is Gd to 3s. Cocksfoot, Plains 3Jd, Bays 3Jd to 4d. Dairy Produce. —Cheese, dairy Sid 1 , factory Gd cased f.o.b. Lyttelton. Butter—Fresh local factory 101 d, best dairy 9d, salt (ik boxes) BJd. Hams and bacon 9d to lOd, factory Jet higher, cased f.o.b. Fresh eggs lid per dozen. EANGIORA. Owing to the harvesting, there was a very small attendance at the Rangiora market yesterday. The yarding of live stock comprised 55G0 sheep, 40 cattle, and 80 pigs. Prices were:—Fat lambs, 12s 4d to 13s 3d; fat ewes, 12s to 15s 6d ; two-tooth fat ewes, to 15s 7d; four and six-tooth ewes, 14s 9d; two-tooth ewes, 12s to 12s 9d ; two-tooth wethers, 12s to 13s 6d; aged ewes, 7s fid to 11s; six-tooth and full-mouth half-bred ewes, 10s fid to 14s; store lamb's, 10s to 11s 9d; merino ewes, 7s fid to 10s. Cattle—Beef sold equal to 27s fid per 1001 b; fat steers, £8 10s; dry cows, £8 15s; springers, £7 10s to £8; young cattle, to £3 2s fid; milch cows, £7 10s to £8 10s; aged sorts, £2 10s to £5 155., Pigs— Baconers, 35s to 60s; porkers, 20s to 36s fid ; moaners, to 17s fid; suckers, to 16s. In the Produce Yards, little business was done. Owing to a flooded market, oats showed a downward tendency. Good milling Canadian were quoted at Is lOd to Is lid; Sparrowbills, Is 9d to Is lOd; Dun and Danish, Is 5d to Is 6£d. Very little wheat was on offer, but the following sales were effected :—Tuscan, 4s Id ; Hunter’s, 4s; Pearl and Velvet, 4s 2d. Good bright samples of barley realised 3s 3d. Farmers’ lines of grass seed changed hands at Is 9d to 2s fid per bushel. All the foregoing prices are for delivery at country stations. ASHBURTON. At the Ashburton Yards, yesterday, the entry of cattle was small, only a few stores offering. In sheep, the entry was not large, and tiio lines in were mostly from a distance. The attendance of farmers and others was not up to the average, owing te tho harvest operations being now in full swing. Tho following are some of the prices;—Cattle—Dairy cows, £5, £B, £8 17s fid; eighteen-monlli-old steers, £3 10s. Sheep—Fat sheep—Cross-bred ewes, 11s fid to 15s 4dlambs, 11s fid to 13s 4d. Stores —Lambs, 5s 2d to 11s 7d (quite up to late rates); two-tooth cross-bred ewes, 12s 7d to 12s 9d ; six and eight-tooth do, 12s lOd ; six to full-mouth, 9s to 13s Id.
