MARKET REPORTS.
HORSE SALES. There was an entry, of 100 -horses at Tattersall’s on Saturday, 1 including a few good draughts and a consignment of 28 tram and light harness animals'-from the North Island. A very good demand was experienced, and a better clearance was made than for some time. Bert draughts made £32 to £SB, medium sorts £l6 to £27, best light harness horses £lB to £25, medium sorts £lO to £l4, and light hacks £5 to £B. Of the North Island, trammers made £lB to £25, and light harness horses £l2'to £l7 10s. PIGS AND POULTRY. There were large yardings of both pigs and poultry at Saturday’/) markets. There ■was extremely keen competition for pigs, and all classes of poultry fit for the table sold well. In pigs, light porkers brought 23s to 265, small stores 15s to 17s 6d, and suckers and weaners 8s 6d to 14s. In poultry, roosters mn.de 3s to 4s 9d, hens 2s 6d to 3s 9d, ducks and ducklings 3s to 4s 6d, geese and goslings 5s 6d to 8s 6d, and turkey roosters 11s to 17s, all at per pair. KIR WETS. At the Kirweo monthly sale, on Friday, an entry of 2237 sheep and lambs came to hand, of which only half were in the store pens. The entry of fats, though on the small side, contained several lots- of prime, freezing wethers and -lambs, and some good quality cross-bred ewes. The whole of the fat .sheep were out of the wool, as were also the bulk of the stores. There was a full attendance of farmers, hut few dealers, ami competition showed a want of spirit. The following were the prices:—Freezing wethers, shorn, best sorts 18s Id to 19s Id, lighter weights 16s 3d to 17s 3d ; mixed sexes, 15s 8d ; fat lambs, 14s 6d to 15s 2d, a few extra heavy 16s 3d, the majority being passed at- 13s 3d to 14s ; fat crossbred' ewes, shorn-, best 14s 6d to 16s Bd, others 11s 8d to 13s lid ; fat merino wethers, shorn, 11s.7dj four-tooth cross-bred wethers, shorn, 103. to 15s lOd ; twotooth ditto, 11s to 11s 6d ; cross-bred owes (shorri) and lambs, 6s 3d to 7s lOd.
