In the House of Commons Mr Brodriciftl Bill to create a militia force of 50,000 yeainanry, with a reserve of 35,000, was read a second time. The scheme to form a special section of 5000 yeomanry for service abroad has been dropped until nexti session.' Mr Balfour stated that the whole object of the duties appertaining to the Council of Defence was engaging the very earnest attention of the Government.
