CONFERENCE OF FRUITGROWERS.

[Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Dec. 10. At the Fruit Growers' Conference it was agreed that the secretary should -write to the Auckland members o'f Parliament asking them to co-operate in obtaining -an amendment of the Liquor Sales Control Act that should exempt New Zealand wines from the operation of the Act, also to the Premier and Minister of Agriculture pointing out the uselessness of spending money in encouraging the planting of vineyards while the industry was liable to be killed at any tbie, and suggesting that the Government should take action to ohviato that. It was also urged that steps should be taken to examine wines to prevent adulteration, and that the Government should be urged to provide for the rigid inspection of all wine made "in New Zealand, also that imported into the colony. Signor Bragato said that he had already taken steps towards establishing a laboratory in which all wines could ba examined with a view to framing'a Bill, which he hoped to see passed next session.
