FIRES.

[Pan Press Association.] HAWERA, Sept. 29. A fire occurred, late last night in a house occupied by Mr Ricidale Baker. Four uhiiuren wlio were alone in the building had a narrow escape. The eldest girl, aged eleven, was awakened by a baby crying and gave the alarm, and Constable Ryan got into the building and rescued three children, while the fourth, an infant, was got out by another person. Had the alarm been delayed five minutes there would have been a tragedy to report.
