VALEDICTORY.

A farewell social was given* to Mr P. Wright and family in the Ashley school on Thursday. . The Rev H. East, presided, and speeches were made by Messrs Bbwron, Ellwood and Whitesides, interspersed with songs and games. A large number of friends had assembled to bid the guests good-bye, after a residence of forty years in the district.

Church on Tuesday evening last for the purpose of bidding farewell to Miss Weir, whoi has for the last twelve years occupied the position of organist in the church. Speeches were delivered by Messrs M'Dowell, Mouldey, Queree, Collins and Gimblett, voicing the deep regret of the congregation at Mirs Weir’s resignation*, and Mr M’Dowell, onbehalf of the trustees and friends, presented V her with a gold watch, suitably engraved.
