FIRES.

At a quarter to three this morning a fire broke out in the front portion of - Mr C. Duggan’s paint shop, in Cashel Street ■west. By three o'clock the whole building, a wooden one, of one storey, which included Mr Logie's bootshop, was in flames, and the Brigade, when it arrived, could do little more than prevent serious damage to the adjoining premises. At Timaru on Monday evening a fire occurred in a small office attached to Mr T. Gorman’s blacksmith’s shop. It, was speedily extinguished, and the monetary losa was small.
