DUNEDIN NEWS.
[From Cub, Correspondent.] DUNEDIN, Dec. 28,
Mr Dix entertained at his four theatres, on Boxing Night, no fewer than 7659 persons, the number being distributed as follows:—Auckland 2084, Wellington 1470, Ohristchurch 2117, Dunedin 1988. The amount taken at the four centres totalled £512 16s, which, considering the prices of admission 2s and Is, forms a record. Last year the receipts on Boxing Night were £454. The balance of the North-East Valley Borough's 4 per cent loan for street improvement has been considerably oversubscribed at par. As the first issue of debentures only reached an average of £9B when money was much more liquid than it now is this result must be considered as very gratifying, more especially as the whole loan has been floated locally.
