TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —In reply to “5.P.,” whose letter appeared an your columns on Monday, I writ© to him for enlightenment on the following questions:— (1) Where is the proof that Jehovah waa( the tribal deity of the Jews? (2) ’Who is the Omnipotent Power than wields the destiny of a universe? (3) What is the evidence, and how did he get it, by intuition, experience, or testimony, as to the existence of such a Being? (4) Can he explain the following discrepancies and irregularities in Nature:—. The nipples, in males of men and. quadrupeds, or muscles to move the. external ear in man without a nerve to influence its motion; the claws of the tiger to tear tha innocent lamb, or those of the hawk tq pierce the heart of the harmless dove j 1 that some of the planets move westward and some eastward, some in orbits that are extremely elliptical, and others in orbits that are nearly circular? (5) If the miracles of the Bible are to b« rejected as unworthy of credence, will ha kindly explain three miracles in the book of Nature, i.e., the miracle of matter, tha miracle of life, and the miracle of mind?—» I am, etc., LEARNER.
