RETURNED TROOPERS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —By AVay of settling our boys after a period of intense activity and gxcitCiifent 'in the field, I would suggest that the Government should secure lands suitable for fanning in both islands, to be set aside specially for them at cost price to the country, to be hold by them on lease in perpetuity. without any outside competition. By So doing, many of the boys avill settle diwu permanently in the colony instead; of taking any opportunity of leaving it. It is the very least the GoveM'miiilD can dc for those avlio have so Avell represented the colony at the seat of Avar. I A r enture to throw out this suggestion,- as I do not see as yet any mention, in the Ministerial programnve'of any plan by Athldi tho colony intends to recognise,, and .reAvard these young men, Who should be--encouraged ih. every possible manner to remain and settle doAvn in the land of their birth or adop-tion.—-I am, etc., FATHER OP ONE OF THEM.
