(Received August 23, 10.35 p.m.) Trudgeon was presented at the -Police Court on a charge of horse/ 1 stealing. Un the application of the police, the -charge was withdrawn, pending the trial of accused on another charge. THE QUEENSLAND DEFICIT. BRISBANE, August 23. In the Assembly, the Treasurer’s proposals to issue Treasury Bills to cover the £530,000 deficit was carried. WEST AUSTRALIAN RAILWAYS. (Received August 24, 1.3 a.m.) PERTH, August 25. A sensation has been caused by the Cabinet, after a lengthy investigation into matters in the Railway Department, and adverse reports by the General Manager, John Davies, against G. W. Davies, who was recently appointed secretary to the Commissioner of Railways, deciding to suspend both. John and G. W. Davies.
