. <%. — __ [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, August 22. The Willis Street wideming was twaved this mornimg, by the hearing, of a. case in the cO'HKpcinsaiti'on Court. Through am 'Owsight on, 'the parb of the officers of the City Corporation, the claim of three, members of the Sckilfe family for £18,750, as compensation for land takem by the Corporation a* the foot of Willis 'Street, went by default. There were four members of the family interested in the property, whiiidfa they estimated at a total value of £25,000. On. the casa beong taken, to the Appeal Count, the CarpM-ation. had! the verdict given against it, tb?i claim of the defend-ante standing good. There was, however, on*> member of the Sclvuite'family (Mrs Clark) who did root put in her claim at the same time as the other three, and her claim, therefore, had to igo to the Compensation Court. The tei'di oomcernedi is that block situated on the cornier of Willlils and Harbour Streets, 'north from the Empire Hotel. Mr 'Bendix Hallensteini also had an interest im the block, and his claim., too, had to go to the Court for Settlement. Hence this moraiinig's srttirag. The jOhief Justice presided, and had the assistance of two assessors. Mrs Clark claimed' £§2so from the Corporation, being a fourth share of the whole property. Mr Hallensteini claimed £6600, a,s owner- of the fee simple, which was subject to a lease, expiring in 1903, at a yearly rental of £312. The bearing of evidence was not concluded wbem the Court rose.
