ROAD BOARDS.
, RICOARTON. The Riccarton. Road Board met- on August 12. All the members were present. The resolution- striking the rates for the current year was adopted, and Messrs Boag and Staples appointed to sign the rate book. In reference to the drainage between Papanui and. Styx, the Board! decided to clean out the drains on Tucker’s and Craddock’s Roods. Mr Samuels waited upon the Board in reference to constructing about half a chain'of concrete chaheiling ob Langdcn’s Road. The-Boaird agreed to-, contribute £1 5s towards the w, k, as formerly promised. ’Attention) was also drawn to the bind gums' 'on the same road, and the clerk was instructed to - notify owners to lop overhanging, branches. Correspondence was read from- Mr E. Marshall in reference to the -taking over of roads in Hall’s Township, r To be informed that the Board is willing to carry out its part of the agreement. The Christchurch City Council wrote stating that the Council did not intend to make any charge for use of roller on North .Park Road on the occasion of the Royal visit. A vote of thanks was passed to the Council 1 for its generosity in this matter. The Papanui School Committee wrote drawing, the Board’s attention to the flooding of the footpath on North Road during late rains. The matter is ,to be attended to, and the culverts enlarged, if found necessary. The clerk was instructed to take steps to have a nuisance abated on the Ham Road. The various surrounding Boards notified the rate of wages paid to workmen. The Board considered the present rate of wages paid by this Board to its workmen is as high as the surrounding Boards, with the exception of its foreman, and it was decided to. raise his wages to 8s per day. Accounts to the amount of £146 15s 5d were passed for payment.
