PROPOSED IRRIGATION WORKS. THE KHARTOUM-RED SEA RAILWAY. United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright. CAIRO, August 2. Sir W. E. Garstin, Under-Secretary for Public Works in Egypt, has submitted to Lord Cromer a scheme for completing the irrigation of Egypt and the Soudan by anticipating the raising of the level either of Laka Tsana, in Abyssinia, or of Lake Albert Nyanza, in order to feed the Nile during the months of low supply. Lord Cromer emphasises the recommendation. as one of urgency. Investigation as to the best route of the Khartoum-Red Sea Railway is proceeding.
