ENTERTAINMENTS.

The annual “ social ” in .connection with the Builders’ Association was given in the Art Gallery last evening. About 110 couples took part in the dancing, which was kept up till the early hours. The anniversary “ social ’ of tie Ashburton Baring Square Wesleyan Church was held on Thursday evening, at which there was a large attendance. Addresses and musical items were given. At the Methodist schoolroom, Richmond, on Thursday, the Queensland Bioscope Company, engaged l by the (Richmond Band, gave a programme of animated pictures, ivith scenes from the seat of war in China, the Paris Exhibition, and a number of miscellaneous pictures. . , The annual “ social ” in connection with, the Kirwee Band of Hope was held m the Kirwee Hall on Wednesday evening, duly 31. There .was a good attendance, and an excellent programme of songs, recitations., dialogues, etc., was gone throng’ll. ihe report and balance-sheet were read, which showed that the society was in a flourishing condition. The election of officers and committee resulted in nearly all b-ang reelected. Refreshments were handed round by lady members of the society, after which the room was cleared for games and ot er amusements. _ The Christchurch Gas Company employees held a “ social ” in the L} ceum on Wednesday evening, which was attended.
