Joske, who has been, a resident in Fiji for twenty-three years, has informed the Sydney “Daily Telegraph” that the desire' for federation with Australia is pretty general. He considers federation with New Zealand out of all reasonable reckoning. Naturally, Sydney is Fiji’s best trading port. In the absence of an alliance with Australia, he thinks the white residents of Fiji should he allowed to select the eight unofficial members of the Legislative body, who are now elected by Downing Street. He eulogised Sir George O’Brien’s work in the group.
