FIRE INSURANCE CASES.
[Per Press Association.] ■AUCKLAND, July 18,
Mr Kirker, the manager of the South British Insurance Company, says' the object of the Insurance Companies, in increasing the rates, was to arouse public feeling, and stir up the municipalities to a sense of their responsibility. ■ This had been effectually done. When the towns were provided with first-class water-supplies, and thoroughly up-to-date fire brigade equipments and appliances, the insurance rates would'be reduced.
