THE BANK OF NE W ZEALAND.
THE PREMIER'S CRITICISMS. [Fkoai Our Correspokdbnt..] . . WELLINGTON, July 11. The " Nfi-nr Zealand Times," in an .article which was evidently inspired, dissents' entirely from the Premier's: contention about the appropriation of the net'-profits' of the Bank of New Zealand, contending that failure to do so wojild be a gross breach of faith to the shareholders; who Ifournd the additional capital in 1898. It is claimed that the Chairman's clear forecast of a dividend in 1902 Save a solid and not a fictitious value to 'the shares, and this has been bettered by the results of 1901. This being the bank's side of the controversy, it seems a fair conclusion that the bank will pay a dividend simply because it thanks that the law can compel it to do what it feels itself bound in honour to do.
