ASSENT TO A SUPPLY BILL. the"tarifp. United Press Association—-By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. MELBOURNE, June 27. The Supply Bill, the first legislative enactment of the Commonwealth Parliament, has received Earl Hopetoun’s assent. In the House Mir Barton refused to respond to attempt® to draw him as to when the Federal tariff would come into operation. Statements were made that immense consignments of goods were being imported into Sydney in anticipation of new duties.
