i . .jt. . THEIR EXTRAORDINARY STORY. United Press Association—(By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. THURSDAY ISLAND, June 26. Eight men, described as Arabs or Lascars, have been, brought from Capo Grenville. They tell an ■extraordinary .story. They state that they left an unnamed point, in a small schooner, amd voyaged for three months -without calling anywhere. The schooner foundered' in a gale, and the men swam together for eight days, and eventually landed at Cape Grenville. The supposition is that they either jumped from a passing steamer or ate escapees from New Caledonia. (Received June 27, 1.5 a.m.) The Arabs were before th« Police. Court: when evidence disproved their story. A letter addressed' to a prisoner in New Caledonia was found on one, and a Noumea paper on another.
