AUCKLAND NEWS.
[Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, June 24. The thermometer registered 24deg outside in Pousonby early this morning. At Newmarket ice an eighth of an inch thick mas found in a tub of mater.
Mr Henare Parata, Government Commissioner, has been working energetically during the last week in connection with the accommodation and transport of Maoris returning from Rotorua. During the last few days some 1600 Natives have been passed through his hands, with the assistance of Mr Hone Heke, and returned to their homes. He has also been busy seeing that sick Maoris are attended to.
