A FIREMAN’S FATE. $ Mr A. W. Pearce, thirty-one years of age, a resident of f Campbell Street, the Spit, Napier, and a native of. Dunedin, was for a number of years employed,as a fireman with the Union Steamship Company. He tells the following true narrative: — “ Whilst engaged in seafaring ,pursuits, I visited many .places, having, a» fireman, to work very hard. It is now ten years ago, that whilst at sea the worst experience of my life befell me. Sudden change of temperature from the heated’ ehgine-rpom, with' a-fresh breeze on deck, induced, sciatica. First, I felt a sharp, shoting pain in the ankle, then it extended to the hip. At night the pain was especially severe, and I got hilt little rest. One day, whilst on shore, I was attacked! so suddenly by a sharp pain that I could scarcely walk. Several doctors attended me, but I seemed to- derive no benefit.” , “You spared no expense?’ “No, I must have spent one hundred pounds without gaining any benefit. About lour years ago I read particulars of terribly severe cases of sciatica which had been cured by Dr Williams’ pink pills for pale people. I thought I would try them, and did so. I had to persevere with them before much improvement was noticeable, but gradually the pains lessened and I felt stronger and brighter ; by continuing, I was absolutely cured of sciatica, and now I am in very good health. I know of others who have been benefited by this reliable medicine.”, j The causes of sciatica are anosmia, debility, nerve injury, exposure to web and cold: Dr Williams’ pink pills are the only medicine which effectually cure these ailments. By enriching the b!otd and retching the nerves they cure chronic colds, consumption of the bowels and lungs, bronchitis, rheumatism, lumbago, dyspepsia, dysentery, premature loss of manly strength,' etc.; they are specially effective as a ladies’ medicine.
