THE PROPOSED REHEARSAL OP THE VOLUNTEER REVIEW. PROTEST FROM THE CHURCHES. The following telegram, signed by . Bishop Julius (Anglican),' Rev Dr Elmslie (Presbyterian), and Rev Dr Morley and Rev W. Baumber (Methodist), was sent to the Premier yesterday: —“ ‘ Lyttelton Times ’ announces rehearsal 1 review of troops oh Sunday afternoon. Such procedure will; be a great affront to the conscience of many volunteers and members of Christian churches. If such rehearsal necessary, it could take place on ‘Saturday afternoon when men. are free. Hope it will be countermanded,” Divisional orders published in this issue announce that the rehearsal of tie Reviewwill take place this afternoon. The troops axe to be in position by fojir o’clock.
