ODDFELLOWS’ CHURCH PARADE.
The members of the Loyal Riccarton Lodge, 1.0.piF., M.U., paraded for divine service at St Peter’s Church, Riccarton, yesterday afternoon, when there was a very large attendance. The parade was formed up at the Library Hall, and the procession, in which were a number of representatives from sister Lodges, was headed) by a, brass band to St Peters. . Amongst those present were— P.P.G.M.’s Bros Wihney, Caterer and Denny, P.G;M.’s Bros E. Kent, EHolmes, Patterson, Thompson, Merriman and E. Jeffreys, N. G. Bro J. Holmes, V.G. Bro J. Smith, P.C.S. Bro Foster, P.Sr Bro C.- E, T. Hill and E.S. Bro W. Wilcox. The service at St Peters was conducted by the Rev W. P. Winter, and special hymns and psalms were sung. The preacher took for his text, Ecclesiastes iv., 9-, “Two are r better than one, because they have a good reward for their labour,” and in the course of . his address he referred to the benefits of union, provision for the future, and brotherly labour, which were principles of Oddfellowship, and to the lessons taught by those p-in-ciples/of brotherly love, which, leading the brethren onward and upward, formed a part in their fitting for inheritance in the! Kingdom, of God. -
