[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Feb. 18. The Conciliation Board gave. its award to-day in the drivers’ dispute, recommend-! ing fifty-six hours’ work a week for tram drivers, at lOd an hour, scavengers and dustmen to receive £2 5s per week, rubbish and refuse drivers £2 Bs, drivers of twohorse lorries £2 Bs, drivers of .one-horse lorries £2 3s 6d, coal delivery drivers £2 4s, cr £2 8s where the weight of the bag exceeds lewt, and casual drivers a minimum of Is an hour. Attending horses in stabjes is to be deemed necessary work, and is nob to be paid as overtime. Compulsory work on Sundays as to be paid double rates. Overtime is to be paid at the rate of time and a quarter for the first two hours, and time and a half for any additional hours for compulsory holidays, equal to time and a half for compulsory work thereon. Preference is to be given to unionists. The Secretary of the Drivers’ Union expressed his disapproval of the award. The Conciliation Board to-day began the hearing of the dispute between the Wellington Amalgamated Society of Cooks and Waiters, and tbs employers of the city. An adjournment was made till Wednesday, when the Board will announce its decision on the request of the Society lor an amendment of its demands.
