Wet weather attended the Swimming Club’s Carnival. The principal events resulted as follow: —Maiden—W. Cocks 1, Guinness 2. Neatest Dive—L. Jack 1. 220yds Championship—Hamilton I, F. Truscotb 2; time—2min 50sec. The course will be re-measured. Bracelet—W. Cocks 1, A. B. Truscott 2. 100yds—F. Truscott 1, M’Glashan, 2. The Christchurch visitors, Truscott Brothers, Calvert and Jack, were taken for a picnic and drive yesterday, and are being entertained at a “ social ” and smoke concert to-night. At a committee meeting of the Christchurch Amateur Swimming Club, held last night, it was decided to hold the annual Quarter-mile Race, for Dr Moorhouse’s trophy, on Saturday afternoon, March 9, over a straight course on the Estuary, from Monck’s Jetty. The Harris Cup competition, for boys under sixteen, distances, 25, 50, 75' and 100 yards, was fixed for next Thursday afternoon, at 5.15 p.m., when the 25yds and 50yds events will be swum. Four new members were elected, and it was decided to enter Messrs F. Paterson, J. Hilson, O. Hiorns and G. J. C. Smart to represent the Christchurch Club in the Inter-club Relay Race, at the East Christchurch Baths, next Saturday afternoon. A meeting of the East Christchurch Swimming Club was held on Monday evening ; present —Messrs Donaldson', 8. Baron, O. Ormandy, V. Drake and H. Wairchop. The sub-committee stated that arrangements were progressing satisfactorily for the carnival to be held on Saturday, and also that entries were coming in freely. The thanks of the club were due to Messrs F. Moore and W. W. Collins for donations to the prize fund.
