South Canterbury Representative. IMiA WM. STRANGE. THUS. COVERDALE. Sole Partners and Proprietors. A SPECIAL INVITATION. ANOTHER GREAT SALE ATTRACTION. IP you understand anything about art-china and art-clay ware, we like you to coma and" see some goods in that line that wa consider RATHER OUT OF THE COMMON. If you should happen ita be a connoisseur you will be charmed with these perods; you'will recognise at ■& glance their “undoubted merit. If you are “NO JUDGE, it doesn’t matter. You at least know a beautiful thing when you see it, and we should like to have your candid opinion concerning these articles. Don’t imagine there is the, slightest occasion to buy, unless, of course, YOU EEEL TEMPTED to do so. This is merely an invitation to spend ten minutes (or half-an-hour, if you can spare the time) amongst our china and clay novelties. We venture to say you will find the experience a pleasant one. We would direct your particular attention to some really BEAUTIFUL STATUETTES in olay. Amongst those are single figures and groups of figures illustrative of many a familiar -story (real or fabulous), Such, for example, as “ Una and the Lion,” “ Rebecca at the Well,” “Fals'taff and Dame Quickly,” “ Joan of Arc,” “ The Sphinx and an Egyptian Maiden,” “The Knight and the Lady,” a reversible figure, showing the lady on one side, the knight on the other. A CHARMING GROUP of three female figures is illustrative of the Arts of “Music, Painting and Literature,’’ while a picturesquely attired boy, armed with 1 ■bpwl_ and clay-pipe, is shown in the act of blowing hubbies. Then there is our old- friend “ Robin Hood,” with his “ bugle-horn " elung about him ; Card a pair of rustic lovers compel you to laugh. The swain is evidently deeply enamoured, while the coy look on the maiden’s face is wonderfully depicted. All these figures are in soft and beautifully harmonious colours, and they are each and all of ■them FIT TO ADORN ANY DRAWINGROOM IN THE LAND. They have only just arrived from Germany. Examples of the LOVELY fDOULTON WARE ere numerous. There are exquisite tea-sets in quaint shapes and chaste designs. The colourings are in all cases very beautiful. One -set is in shades of blue. A deep royal blue blends most prettily with efcone-blue and skyblue tints on the upper half of each article; the lower half being a pearly white. Then there is a set in which the ground is a p-ail'e blush-rose, with hints of golden-yellow. Scattered over this are spring flowers, the pink blossoms contrasting very sweetly with the other -shades. JARDINIERES of various shapes, sizes, and colourings are sure to attract attention. So also is the EXQUISITE IMITATION DRESDEN WARE. The imitation of the famous Dresden china is so -close that it really requires an expert to distinguish it from the real article. We have here, most faithfully reproduced, the nymphs and swains, the shepherds and shepherdesses, the flowers and foliage, etc., etc. so familiar in examples of,genuine Dresden. But these imitations COST BUT A THIRD, OR LESS, of the money demanded -for -the genuine. The above specimens, together with numerous others quite as beautiful and attractive, -are NOW ON VIEW! ALL WHO CAN themselves of our invitation, and come and see our collection of china and clay goods. Such articles are not to be met with every day in New Zealand. N.B. —The WHOLE of the above Beautiful Goods-, -also our ENTIRE Stock of CHINA AND GLASS, etc., all SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCED IN PRICE DURING OUR . CLEARANCE SALE, NOW ON. STRANGE AND COMPANY, CHRISTCHURCH.
