* CANTERBURY RUGBY UNION. '" A meeting of tlje- Canterbury Rugby Football Union was held in the Clarendon' Hotel last evening ; present—Messrs G. H. Mason (chairman), J. R- 'Evans, J. C. Adams, W. Walton", F. T. Evans, T. Caverhill, G. Scott, F. E. Asquith, H. Frost and W. G. Garrard (-honorary secretary). Mr G. T. Asc'hm-an, secretary of the North Canterbury Public Schools Amateur Athletic Association, wrote stating that the primary schools football competition, had been hither - too promoted by a committee of masters from the competing schools, but on behalf of the Association he'-asked that the management should In/ transferred to the Council of the Xoitli Canterbury P.S.A.A.A. Early application was being made! that the rules might be revised, and a copy of them would be submitted to the Union Committee .should the request be granted. The writer also asked'that the competition might be commenced as early as possible in view of -the visit, of a> Canterbury school, team-to Wellington,, probably .in the first week of I May. 'lt was resolved that the request re-
garding 'the transfer of the management of the primary schools competition should be agreed to, but that the competition would have to be subject to the control of the Rugby Union. A letter was read from Mr W. Spring, Lees'ton, in regard' to the committer's request that he should withdraw his previous letter stating that if there was any withdrawing to be done it would iha-ve to come from; the Union, for their violation, of their trust. All he had stated about the B team, and Springston, and Leeston, csuld be supported: on oath if necessary. If the Union disqualified himi he would test the legality of the Union's action in Court. , The letter was- received. It was resolved that the Secretary, and Messrs Frost and Asquith should be appointed a sub-committee to draw up the annual Union report and balance-sheet, to be submitted to the Executive Committee.
