CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday - , Feu. 12. „ (Before Mr B, Beetham, S.M.) Druxkenxess.—Two first .offenders were each fined 5s and costs. —Mary M'Loughlin was sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment. Maintenance.—A maintenance order against Edward Joyce, was cancelled. — Samuel John Williamson, charged with disobedience of a maintenance order, was ordered to pay arrears and costs by 10 a.m. on Wednesday, in default, fourteen days' imprisonment.—Allen Guthrie (Mr Beatty) was ordered to pay 4s a- week towards the support of his illegitimate child. An order for confinement expenses.was also made, but suspended for. two year?. —Letitia Berkeley was ordered .to pay 8s a week towards the support of her child, an inmate of the -Nelson Industrial School. A Case > Dismissed.—Caspar Miteson pleaded not guilty to a charge of having stolen a silver watch, value £2, the property of William Pratt, ah A.B. on the as. Wanaka, Pratt and Mateson had had a scuffle outside the Empire Hotel. Trait asserted that the accused had taken his watch from his pocket. The latter denied it, and when searched by the police nothing was found on him. The watch was afterwards found by the police a few yards outside the hotel door. Tho evidence did not prove that there had been any theft, and the Bench dismissed the case. GERALDIKE. ' Tuesday, Feb. 12. . (Before Mr H. W. Moore, J.P., and Mr J. Jobbe'rns, J.P.) PnoinniTioN Order. —-An order was granted against-a Kakuhu resident to-take effect in Geraldinc and Timaru districts. Fishing Without a License. —William Ru-we' was charged with taking trout on three different 'dates in December last from tho Waihi. River, without a license. Accused was fined 10s and costs (31s), in -default three days' imprisonment. Civil Cases. —William Keen v. Thomas Wheeler, claim £2, for service of the thoroughbred stallion Marlborough. Judgment was given for plaintiff for amount claimed with costs.
