PROHIBITION LEAGUE.
The annual meeting of the Christchurch Prohibition League was held on Friday everting in the 'Metaphysical Club-rooms, Gloucester Street. The Rev It. Taylor presided. The election of officers and committee, for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—President, Mr T. E. Taylor; vicepresidents, Miss Roberts, Revs C. H. Laws and R. Taylor. Messr* H. G. Ell, M.H.R., J. Field and D. Martin; treasurer, Mr R. B. .Ellison; assistant treasurer, Mr , J. M'Combs; secretary, Miss C. Henderson; assistant secretary, 'Miss E. R. Henderson ; and a general committee of twelve members. The -Special Committee appointed to draw up a scheme of work submitted a lengthy report, consideration of which was postponed till the mext meeting of the League. Notice was given to move at the next meeting that public meetings should be held fortnightly on Sunday evenings. Arrangements were made for the open-air meeting on Feb. 16. A series of resolutions, protesting against the proposals contained in the "Licensing Act Amendment Bill, 1900," were passed unanimously.
