The bush fires destroyed forty thousand acres of grass in the Albury district, and two thousand bags of wheat. • MELBOURNE, Feb. 11, A man named Jones succumbed to injuries which he received while fighting the fires in the Birrega-rra district. ■' The fires are still raging in the Branxholm district. Many serious cases of burning are reported. It is feared that there has been loss of life at Myamyu. Many houses, the Roman Catholic Church, the sawmills, the railway contractors' camps, much railway property, and a large number of stock have been destroyed. Mr Chomley Killeen's station has been devastated. The ladies on the station had to take refuge in a swamp. Telegraph lines have been destroyed in all directions. Earl Hopetoun cabled his, sympathy with the sufferers. HOBART, Feb. 11. The fires are still burning on the hills in the Queenstown district.
