SOUTH CANTERBURY. Thirty-nine children were boarded out, at an average cost of 5s Id per week. Five children at Burnham cost 6s, and three at Neison 7s, each per week. Receipts from hospital patients for nine months had been £l6O 17s lid, and accounts for between £l6O and £l7O had been issued, and most of them would be paid. The Board resolved to extend the leave of absence gta mod to the steward, Major Journey, for another year. The Chairman explained that the secretary’s presence is often need-d at the latter institution on account- of obstreperous inmates. A sketch plan for a new operating room, estimated to cost £6OO or £7OO, was presented by the Cha.rmnn, and referred to the Estimates Commit' ee. The secretary was requested to visit Winchester and arrange, if necessary, for a nurse for an incurable cancer patient. Accounts were passed for payment amounting to £520.
