A ROUGH VOYAGE.
EXPERIENCES OF THE YACHT WAITANGI. .The Wellington yacht. Waitaugi, -which left for Wellington on Friday morning, last, put back into Lyttelton at two o’clock yesterday morning, after:’a very rough Sis days’ voyage. The crew report that theyacht crossed Cook Strait on Monday night in a strong north-west gale. The weather was so thick that it was impossible to-pick up the lighthouse. The yacht. reached -Palliser Bay,' - but • there lier .foresail was -oai■ricdaway, aud she hsid to, run to-Cape .Campbell under her,.trysail. , .A very-heavy sea 'was ftihhing,' and the hoflhcrly gale blew the yacht doym past Haikotuia. The iCTewi itljen;7dßC!ided .to" jnake',:-for' Lyttelton. They had run out of provisions, but had plenty of fresh water. The necessary repairs are to be effected in Lyttelton. The Waitaugi was in company with the Auckland yacht Rainbow off Flaxbourne on Monday night. The latter, like the Waitangi, was under short canvas. ■ News of the Rainbow’s arrival at Wellington was received last night.
