Carroll, who is visiting his constituents, will remain at Gisborne until Sunday. „,. . Colonel Fox has resigned from the Waipara Road Board, on account of ill-health. Mr W. Devenish Meares was a passengei for Wellington- by the.s.s. Tarawera yesterday evening. Mr C. A. Knigge, who has been fifty yeara in the colony, forty-five of whic!lie has spent in 'Wellington, has decided to leave New Zealand and take up his midence in his birthplace, Wiesbaden, near the Rhine, in Germany. Mr Knigge arrived in Wellington when it contained rive hundred inhabitants, and has remained to witness its growth to a city containing upwards of fifty thousand.
