The Wellington Rugby Union, guarantees £75 towards the expenses of the New South Wales team, but at the same time affirms the principle that each visiting colonial team should pay its own expensed. The iollowing dates have been fixed for interprovindal matches: August 18, against Canterbury, at Wellington; August) 21 ( , against Taramaki, at'New Plymouth; August 25, against Auckland, at Auckland; August 30, against Hawke's Bay, at Napier; Sept: 8, against Otago, at Wellington. THURSDAY COMPETITION. The game between the Post and; Telegraph Department and the D.I. C. yesterday was fairly fast throughout, the teams attacking alternately. The Department's men were not in their best form, but, worn by twelve points to thre». Keating (2), Bush and Watts for the Department, and O'Brien for the,D.I.C. obtained tries, none of which were converted. Mr W: G. Garrard was referee. The Farmers' Co-cperative Association's team, and the Merivale team were about equal with regard to strength-, and a. rather slow game took place. Ira the last five minutes, however, the men livened up, and there was some exciting play. The Farmers' Co-operative team won by seven, points to nil. Petrie petted a goal, and Hensley secured a try from a loose rush in the last minute. Mi- H. C. Harrison was referee.

The representative team of Wellington public school boys arrived from the north by, the Rotoraahana yesterday morning. On Saturday, at Lancaster Park, they will play a representative team of Ohristchurcth primary school boys.> Play will begin at 1.30 p.m. The game is exciting a great deal of interest throughout the schools of the district, and, given fine weather, there should be a large attendance. The Wellington boys, who are accompanied by several masters, will remain in Ch.ristchu.rch till Tuesday.
