ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

[Per Press Association.] INVERCARGILL, March 27. A distressing drowning fatality occurred at Woodstock on Sunday. A lad named Fotheringham fell into a waterhole five feet deep. His sister Annie jumped in to rescue him, but got stuck in the mud. The father with difficulty saved the boy, but while he was doing so the girl sank deeper into the mud until only her hair could be seen. When extricated she was dead.

A lad named Thomas Baxter was taken to the hospital by the police yesterday, having been stunned by a fall from a trap. Alter being attended to he recovered sufficiently to be taken to his home during the afternoon.
