SYDNEY, March 24. The whole of the proclaimed plague area has been closed to the public. Barricades will be erected. The supply of serum is fast exhausting. Ten thousand deses from India are expected in about three weeks. Efforts are being made to obtain some from Pasteur's Institute in Paris.

A start is being made to manufacture serum locally, but it will take months to produce. The Archbishop of Sydney has issued a special prayer for deliverance from the plague, to be read in the Anglican churches.

A man named Hayn.es, a resident in Quay Street, has been attacked by the plague. He worked in Sussex Street.

A post-mortem examination showed the supposed case of plague at Surry Hills to be one of heart disease.

SYDNEY, March 25,

A man named Jordan, residing in the infected ar„ea, has been quarantined. it is suspected that he is suffering from the plague. Inspectors are making house to house visits in the infected areas. A number of places are reported to be very insanitary, and some unfit for human habitation. Cleansing operations will commence on Monday. Over 8000 persons have been inoculated.

Two more cases of plague are reported. Mills and Hall, employed at widely divergent points in George Street, have been taken ill. Haynes has died in quarantine. The Premier has decided to quarantine any warehouse where an outbreak of plague ■occurs. PERTH, March 25. The shipping companies complain that the destruction of rats ;s seriously interfering with business.
