THE THIRD CONTINGENT.

TO THE EDITOR, . Sir, —As one -who has taken a considerable, but not anonymous, part in the promulgation of the Third Contingent idea, may I suggest that you publish Mr G. G. Stead’s telegrams of Deo. 22, 23, 27 and 28? If the writers “Interested,” “Observer,” and “ Onlooker,” who are unknown to me, have sought to deprive Mr Stead of any cx-edit ■which is justly his, the liberalminded and impartial people of Christchurch will not rest satisfied until Mr Stead receives those honours of acknowledgment which are his due, and which he is loath to claim.—l am, etc., J. H. KEWLYN.
