There was great excitement over the last race, in which George M. Patchen 12aeca ran a dead heat with Vickery, the New Zealand champion, at scratch. The sale of thoroughbred yearlings this morning resulted in only a few lots changing hands. A filly by Musketry—Dione was bought by Mr M’Guinness at 29gs, and a Musketry—Mistral filly by Mr Dalgety at 85gs. Stepniak’s progeny sold at prices ranging from 9 to 15gs. The Dunedin correspondent of the “ Lyttelton Times ” telegraphs that the acceptances for to-day’s racing give promise of a good day's sport, and that the following horses may run prominently: -—Hack High Weight Handicap—Witchcraft or La Heine ; City Stakes, Pampero ; Jockey Club Handicap, Paladin or Dundas ; Disposal Stakes, Far Niente ; Domain Handicap, Brisa, with Bristol dangerous ; Trial Handicap, Stronald ; Railway Plate, Blazer ; Welter Handicap, Maremma.

Sant Hario was scratched for the Great Autumn and Great Easter Handicaps, to- be decided at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s Autumn Meeting, at 9.30 a.m. yesterday.
