He now admitted that his .statement to the manager was a - i lie. The bill had never been paid by his mother, nor was it presented for payment. p.Thia closed the case for the Crown, arid, iri drtier to allow Mr Jellied© to consnli with his client, the case was put back until the afternoon, and a further charge against , '• Mr mrs, of forging the name of Mr M. Connell, of Masterton, to a promissory note for '■ £386, is being taken. ’ /■■■; r Myers was committed on four charges of ” 'forgery. ■' Two others remain to be heard. • With respect to a cheque alleged to bear the forged signature of C. P. Skerrett, solicitor, Myers made a statement, to the effect • - that he gave a blank cheque to another young man, whose name had, been mentioned during the proceedings, and he .went away and • -: brought him-hack the cheque with Mr Skere ' ifett’s signature.
