City By-laws.— For riding his bicycle on the footpath on Ferry Road, Bernard Force, who pleaded ignorance of the bylaw, was fined Ids"and costs. ■ Alleged Theft of a Letter.— Williiun Welsh was charged with having, on or about Jan. 10, 1899. at Pareora, stolen one post letter, containing a money, order value 19s fd, the property of the Postmaster-Gene-ral. He Was further charged that, on Jan. ,10, ho did forge an authority, namely, a rest office order, for the payment of 19s 6d. On the application of the police, the accused was remanded till Friday next, and the charge of theft was withdrawn. The accused was admitted ’to bail, hi two sureties of £25 each. : UnCRREA^EKf'.—An ; aged female first offender," who admitted being drunk while in charge of a horse and -cart, was 1 fined 2.0 s and costs/ : ‘ 1 ‘
