The Brisbane' Labour Conference has adopted a scheme for the federation of the various labour organisations throughout the colonies, and it is to be submitted to the unions for approval. Its objects include the prevention of ■ strikes and the influx of aliens. It is alleged that nine thousand Uitlandersr in the Transvaal have signed a' petition, expressing confidence in the Boers. Mr Chamberlain, in a despatch to the Transvaal Government with reference to the dynamite monopoly, stated that the monopoly did not benefit the State, but only the concessionaire. It Was also a breach of the 188-4 Convention. Mr F. W. Eeitz, the Transvaal Secretary of State, replied, asserting that the Transvaal' - had the exclusive right to fix the conditions for the manufacture of dynamite, and that Great Britain was not justified in protesting. As an outcome of the recent dynamite outrage in Idaho, 128 miners on strike have been arrested. The Americans have captured additional Filipino positions, driving out the .insurgents with heavy loss. Great supplies of atoms have bocji captured. In the course of a speech, Lord Eosebsry said that the old Liberal Party must combine with the new Imperialism. . Tho French newspaper, “ Dehats,” condemns President Kruger’s strange obstinacy, and considers that Great Britain’s intervention under the circumstances would not he surprising. - Considerable anxiety is felt as to the safety of the steamer Perthshire, which is several days overdue on the voyage from Sydney to tho Bluff.
The barque John Gambles, from Newcastle, got among the reefs near Tiraara during a fog on Saturday morning, and struck three tines.
