THE LYTTELTON ELECTORATE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—While agreeing with every word which your correspondent “H.” says in his letter in your issue of to-day, I think he is in error when he says that Mr Joyce has hud the Ministry in power barracking for, him at four different elections. I think it has only been three ,times that they have pled for him, not four times. —I am, etc., RADICAL. TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Of all the unreasonable rubbish ever penned, commend me to a letter which; appeared in your columns on the Lyttelton electorate. I always thought a political candidate was returned, by the majority of votes in his constituency. The writer c-f the letter on the above subject would seem to think that Mr Joyce was returned exclusively , through the influence of the Premier, as if the electors of Lyttelton were such “ noodles ” as not to kndw how to vote without any outside promptings. Really, I pity your position in having to deal with such political trash which some of your correspondents’ letters contain.. I, suppose- it is incumbent, in your position, to carry out the good old English maxim, “Fair play to all and no favour.”—l am, etc., W.F.L.
