The subjects for examination will be rifle and firing exercises ; duties of ' guides and markers ; guard mounting and relieving and posting of sentries ; knotting and lashing, shelter pits and trenches, squad drill; duties of commanders of sections, revetments ; military bridging, including the construction of trestle, single-lock, double-lock, and cask and raft bridges; field fortifications including a knowledge of obstacles, hasty entrenchments and defence of posts.
