ROAD BOARDS.

HALSWELL. The ordinary meeting of the Halswell Road Board was held on Nov. 28 ; present —Messrs Garforth (chairman), Lewis and Quaife. Correspondence was read—From the Railway Reform League, asking the Board to; appoint a delegate. Mr Lewis was appointed to the position. From Mr A. G. Holmes asking to be allowed to fence across the end of the blind road on his property. Permission was granted. From the Commissioner of Crown Lands forwarding a map of the district, and asking the Board to mark all roads that were formed and fenced. The letter was referred to the Clerk. From the Valuation Department, stating that the alterations to the roll were to be attended to in due course. Accounts amounting to £153 19s 4d were passed for payment,. and the meeting closed. ■

SPRINGS. - i : The monthly meeting 'of the Springs Road Board was held on; Novi 29, all the members being -present, The Overseer reported* that one of the, shingling contracts had been completed, and that the road in process of formation should ba finished in the-course of a week. Other contracts wore well in hand. The Ellesmere Domain Board had not removed the "ence complained of at the Lower Selwyn. Ib was decided to inform the Domain Board that if the fence and huts comp’ained of were not removed in a given time the Board would bring the matter before the law courts. Various complaints were also made of cattle and stock being herded on the roads, and the ranger was ordered to impound all stray stock. The date of the next meeting was fixed for Deo. 20. The finance report was read, the receipts fertile month being £l6l 9s 2d. Accounts amounting to £228 6s lOd were passed for payment, and the Board rose.
