ST MARY’S HOME.
The fancy fair and fete to be held in the Art Gallery in aid of the building fund of St Mary’s Home will be opened by the Bishop on Thursday at 3 p.m,, and will be continued on the following Friday and Saturday. In addition to the various stalls there will be entertainments of every kind and variety, from concerts, at which may be heard Beethoven’s string quartettes, down to Punch and Judy shows. On Thursday at ■ 8 p.m, the Sumner Dramatic Club will . perform “ Twenty Minutes with a Tiger.” At 9 p.m. Messrs T. W. Cane and J. D. Walker will appear in an irresistibly funny musical sketch entitled “ The Manager.” The sketch, which owes its existence to Mr Cane, is remarkably clever. On Friday at 8 p.m. the ladies’ orchestra will give a concert. At 9 p.m., Messrs F. H. Brittan and G. P. Williams will appear in the farce “ No. 1 Round the Comer.” On Saturday, at 8 p.m., there will be a performance of the charming comedietta “ Only a Kiss,” by Mr and Mrs Marsh and Mr Guise Brittan. The fact that the comedietta was written specially for the occasion by Mrs Marsha should give its performance additional interest. At 9 p.m., there will be a grand popular and classical concert under the direction of’Messrs H. Wells and H. M. Reeves. The stalls and shows will be in charge of the following ladies and gentlemen Plain and fancy needlework, the Misses Tripp and Mesdames Blackburne and Hill; refreshment, Mesdames P. Cracroft Wilson, Seoretan and H. Wood; flower and fern, Mesdames Reeves and Denham; produce, Mesdames Bevan-Brown, Croxton, J. Wood andH Williams; confectionery, Mrs Weetman; doll and variety, Mesdames Knowles and Malyon; fairy well, Mrs Shand; gipsy tent, Mesdames Zouch and Russell and Miss Ella Webb; Punch and Judy, Mr T. Maude; Temple of Magic, Mr Seager; gramaphone, Mr D. H. Brown; battery, Mr Seager, jun.
