/ 1 •: W AIMAK ARIEL - .. _ The monthly meeting of the Waimakariri Harbour Board was held on Monday evening at. Kaiapoi; Pam-, j ham (chairman), Lissaman, Wright, Oram, ! Chilton,' Hayman and Wilson.. . Gorres- | poudence ; was read: From Mr .Eckersley, I as- agent; for -Mr J.. S. White, asking the j Board to approve of the erection of a light ! bridge across the Cam, and to recommend the Minister of Marine to grant permission., It was decided that no action could be taken until more detailed. information was supplied. . Prom Mr 'Wilkinson, regarding a lease of the malthouse. It was decided to request the /applicant to make -_an offer.' Prom several .owners of sailing and rowing ■ boats, drawing attention to the fact ..that stakes had been placed in the river by fishermen, and that the stakes' were covered at high water. It was resolved that all stakes likely to be dangerous: should *be removed. The signalman reported having found a depth of 7ft Bih to Bft of water on the. bar 'at various times during the past month. Ho stated that the bar bad shifted a quarter of a mile to the southward. The report was adopted. The Works Committee reported that twenty-five chains of the south bank bad been planted with willows, by arrangement with Mr Doubleday. It was decided to effect necessary repairs to certain buildings when they came into the possession of the Board, and a motion to the effect that rent should be charged on the buildings up to the time of the surrender of the lease was lost. Mr Wilson, pursuant to notice, moved that members of the Board should be elected by the various local bodies instead of by the ratepayers. The motion failed to find a seconder, and lapsed. The receipts for the past month were reported to have been £35 14s 6d, and the balance at' the bank to be £64 Is sd. Accounts amounting to £2O 17s 4d were passed for payment, and the Board rose.
