AUCKLAND NEWS.
[Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, May 30. A property in a fair position in Queen Street was valued at the Assessment Court at .£l6O per foot. C. Melville, formerly a restaurant keeper, has been committed for trial, on a charge of making preparations to leave the colony, and take property which might have to ba divided among his creditors. It is expected that the brigantine Aratapu, which went ashore, will be floated safely. 1 Reports from Waima state that a larga meeting of disaffected Maoris to elect % leader in place of Honi Toia, has bean held.
