fPEB Press Assoctation.l WELLINGTON, March 28,
A Fresh Food and Supply Company is being formed to conduct a business on lines similar to establishments in Australia. It is intended, amongst other things, to provide a regular supply of Pasteurised milk. The Governor and the Premier left this morning to attend the Native meeting at Hastings. The Government has decided that the time is too limited to allow it to take part in the Greater Britain Exhibition to be held in 1899. Private intelligence has been received that Mr E. P. Haughton, Inspector for the Union Company, is lying seriously ill at Dunedin from a relapse of influenza, his condition being critical. The drainage machinery, after a week’s trial, has been found to be working most successfully. One engine at half-speed can do all the work at present, but only three-quarters of the total sewage is now flowing into the ejectors, as two sections have yet to be connected. They will shortly be completed. Shipping circles are beginning to get uneasy about the ship Margaret Galbraith, which was off the Heads last Monday, and was blown away by heavy northerly gales. She was very light, and probably had to run before the wind.
