FIRE.
At 6.30 on Friday evening Mr T. Keir’s dwellinghouse in Ivory Street, Eangiora, had a narrow escape from destruction by fire. The outbreak occurred in an upstairs bedroom, and when observed by a neighbour, who gave the alarm, the flames had destroyed the window curtains, and had a good hold of the wall and ceiling paper. By the prompt application of a few buckets of water mastery of the fire was gained, not, however, before the room and contents had been considerably damaged. A candle placed too near the window curtains was the probable cause of the fire. The pro-, insured in the Phcenix.office.
